Description

The first prototype of the MIG-29 was first flown in 1978. The plane became operational in 1984. The Soviet Air Force is believed to have a substantial number (about 500 units) in service. India and Syria are also using Fulcrums. The fighter is armed with one 23 mm rotary cannon plus two R60 Aphid or A-11 close-range anti aircraft missiles and four Apex or AA-10 medium range missiles.
