The McDonnell Douglas F-15 is a single-seat “all-weather” fighter designed and built to ensure and maintain “air superiority.” The F-15 Eagle was developed during the 1970s to equip U.S. Air Force flight units with an advanced, high-performance fighter. In its evolution, represented by the “C” version, the F-15 is still widely used by the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. National Guard, and the air forces of Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The F-15C actively took part in the first Gulf War, ensuring air superiority for Coalition forces by achieving the highest number of enemy aircraft shootdowns. Armed with a 20 mm M61 cannon, it can deploy a wide variety of air-to-air missiles. Its two powerful Pratt & Whitney F100 afterburning engines allow the F-15C to reach speeds of Mach 2.5.
