The Mirage 2000 is a member of the French Delta-Wing fighter family. Development of this group dates back to the Fifties. The 2000 is quite different from its predecessors and can be compared with the F-16s and F/A-18s. In service with the French Air Force since 1984, it covers the role of an all-weather interceptor. The N and D twin-seat versions are tactical- conventional and nuclear- fighter planes.
