Description

The Humvee (an acronym of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) project was born at the end of the 70s when the United States Army issued a call for tenders for a new tactical and reconnaissance vehicle with all-terrain capacity and durable frame. Perceived as the natural evolution of the Jeep, the Humvee gradually became the standard reconnaissance vehicle of the U.S. Military. Produced by the U.S. based AM General, the Humvee features an imposing size and four-wheel drive that make it easy to drive it cross-country on any kind of terrain and in any weather. In 1995, the A2 series was planned, featuring many upgrades. First of all, the Humvee was fitted with the powerful and reliable V-8 6.500 cc Diesel engine that, despite the vehicle's weight of 4,6 tons, could give it a speed of 65 mph. The Humvee's payload (almost 2 tons) is remarkable, too. The troop carrier? version also includes room to sit eight fully-equipped troops in addition to the two front seats.
