F - 8 E CRUSADERS

Description

This elegant fighter destined to the American Navys ?front-line, was conceived in the mid-50s and, for over ten years, equipped many divisions of that air force, in addition to the Marines, until it was replaced by the F4 Phantoms. The Crusader boasted high manoeuvrability and excellent speed. On top of that, at a time when fighter armament seemed exclusively oriented at air-to-air missiles, it retained its four 20 MM cannons. These cannons showed their efficiency against the North Vietnamese MIGs during scores of air duels in that countrys skies. The F-8 was also supplied to the French Naval Aviation where it served up to just a few years ago.
