Description
This imposing, supersonic, twin-engine bomber was constructed for the Soviet Air Force in the 1970s. A strategic aircraft, it was specifically designed to oppose NATO forces. The Blinder could carry long-range air/surface missiles, thus increasing its effective scope in a strategic offence role with nuclear weapons. During its long period of service it was also used as a conventional bomber during the conflict in Afghanistan, in Chad and in the Iran-Iraq war.
